Gutter replacement cost in Vancouver at a glance
Gutter replacement is taking down the old gutters and downspouts on a house and hanging new ones along the same roofline. The gutter replacement cost in Vancouver comes down to two things: how many linear feet of roofline you have, and how high the crew has to work. Vancouver gets about 1,150 mm of rain a year, so a run that leaks or sags shows it quickly.
Below are typical Lower Mainland ranges for new gutters, what moves the price up or down, and what happens on a replacement visit. Treat the numbers as a planning guide. Your written quote is the price that counts.
How much does gutter replacement cost in Vancouver?
Most Vancouver houses land between about $1,300 and $4,500 to replace gutters, depending on roofline length and storeys. Aluminum typically runs $10 to $20 per linear foot installed, with old gutter removal on top. These are typical Lower Mainland ranges, not a quote. We measure the roof and write one firm price before work starts.
The table rounds figures from published Canadian and Vancouver price guides for 2025 and 2026. It covers what most people ask about: cost per foot, a typical bungalow, a two-storey, a townhouse unit, downspouts and removal of the old gutters.
| Item | Typical range | What it assumes |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminum gutter, per linear foot, installed | $10 to $20 | Seamless sits at the upper part of the range, sectional lower |
| Bungalow (about 130 to 160 ft) | $1,300 to $3,200 | One storey, easy ladder access, standard 5 inch gutter |
| Two-storey house (about 150 to 200 ft) | $1,800 to $4,500 | Extra ladder or lift work at the upper roofline |
| Townhouse unit (about 40 to 70 ft) | $500 to $1,400 | Front and back runs, shared walls with no gutter |
| Downspouts | $5 to $20 per foot | About $50 to $200 for a 10 ft single-storey drop |
| Old gutter removal and haul away | $100 to $400 | Rusted or sectional runs, one truck load |
If you searched for the cost to replace gutters or new gutters cost, this is the range to plan around. Ranges this wide are normal, and it is why we count feet at the measure instead of quoting a flat rate per house. For a firm number on your roof, request a quote.
What changes the price of new gutters?
Eight things move the price of an eavestrough replacement, and roofline length moves it the most. A hillside house in North Vancouver with a long two-storey roofline costs more than a Burnaby townhouse with two short runs, even when the gutter itself is identical.
- Storeys and height. Anything above one storey means longer ladders, more setup time and sometimes a lift.
- Linear footage. Every foot is priced, so a roofline with bump-outs and dormers adds up quickly.
- Corners and mitres. Each inside or outside corner is a joint to cut, fit and seal. Older Lower Mainland houses with many roof angles have more of them.
- Downspout count. Vancouver rain needs a downspout roughly every 30 to 40 feet of run, and each one carries water clear of the foundation.
- Fascia repair. Old gutters that leaked for years often hide soft fascia. We find it when the gutters come off, and it is quoted separately before we continue.
- Gutter size. A 6 inch gutter carries more water than a 5 inch, which helps under cedar and fir canopy. It costs more per foot.
- Colour. White and brown are the usual choices. Matching a custom trim colour can add cost.
- Guards added. Guards installed with the new run cost extra but save a second visit later. See gutter guard installation.
Where the water goes matters too. The City of Vancouver notes that surface water on your lot has to be managed on your own property, so downspout extensions and outlets are part of the plan, not an afterthought.
Repair or replace your gutters?
Repair when one joint leaks, a hanger let go or a short stretch sags. Replace when several seams leak, the metal is rusted through, or gutters keep pulling away from soft fascia. Patching the same run twice on an older Vancouver house usually costs more than replacing it once.
If your gutters are still straight and mostly sound, start with our gutter repair page, or read how to fix leaking and sagging gutters before you book a full replacement. If the run sags again within a season of being rehung, that is usually the sign it is done.
How long does gutter replacement take?
Most single-family houses take about one day once the old gutters come down and the fascia checks out. A large two-storey, a long roofline or fascia repairs found along the way can push the job to two days. Rain matters here, so we plan around dry windows, especially between November and March.
What is included when we replace your gutters?
When we replace your gutters, we measure on site, give you a written quote, and wait for your approval before anything comes off the house. The old gutters and downspouts get removed and hauled away, and any fascia damage we find is quoted first. Nothing is added on the day without your say.
- 1We measure every run on site, note the storeys, corners and downspouts, and check the fascia we can see.
- 2You get a written quote with the total and what it covers.
- 3You approve the price before we start. Anything we find behind the old gutters is quoted first, not added on.
- 4The old gutters and downspouts come down, and we haul them away.
- 5The new run goes up with downspouts routed away from the foundation, and we clean up the site.
Once the new gutters are up, cleaning keeps them working. See the gutter cleaning cost guide for what that runs, or read about full gutter installation in Vancouver for new builds and sizing.
Where we replace gutters
We replace gutters across the Lower Mainland. Burnaby has plenty of townhouse rows with short runs, and North Vancouver has hillside two-storeys where access drives the price. See the pages for Burnaby and North Vancouver for what a typical job looks like in each.
